SupplyBank

Executive Director and founder of SupplyBank.org, Benito Delgado-Olson, attended several backpack distribution events while a senior at the University of California, Berkeley writing his senior thesis on the history of the Oakland Unified School District to learn more about how the neighborhood provided resources to its most needy students.

The inefficiency of the resource distribution and the manufactured photo opportunities struck him, and he felt there had to be a better approach. Benito started SupplyBank.org, formerly K-to-College, in 2009 to help low-income pupils with their school supplies.
Presently, SupplyBank.org is the biggest charitable initiative of its sort in California, partnering with a network of more than 500 organizations to provide basic necessities to low-income families across the state.
