Food Share

Food Share has been providing meals to the hungry in Ventura County since 1978. Eight friends came together to provide meals to those in need under a bridge in Ventura, California, and that is how it all started.

Initially operating out of a family garage, the early charitable organization soon outgrew a donated Saticoy fire station and is now based in Oxnard, California, where it operates from three warehouses totaling 46,000 square feet.

Through its hunger programs and 190 pantry and program partners, staff and volunteers today distribute up to 19 million pounds of food, serving 16 million meals yearly to residents in Ventura County.

As the local food bank for Ventura County, Food Share feeds 140,000 hungry friends and neighbors every month. Food Share belongs to both the California Association of Food Banks and Feeding America, the biggest network of food banks in the country that fights hunger.

Food Share, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is a part of the Feeding America network, which is the largest hunger-relief organization in the country.
