While Beth was volunteering at the Clinton Food Pantry with family and friends, a woman approached her and asked if she knew where she could get diapers for her adorable baby girl. In her search for an answer for her, she discovered that the Shoreline area did not have a diaper bank.

She discovered that one in every three babies requires diapers and that SNAP (formerly Food Stamps) cannot be used to purchase diapers or toiletries. So her family, along with three other families with diverse talents and generous hearts, formed the founding board of Bare Necessities, Inc., a 501(c)3.

As a non-profit company with its headquarters in Clinton, Connecticut, Bare Necessities, Inc. was established in November 2015.
Five households benefited from our first handout in December 2015. We partnered with social service agencies and food banks along the shoreline by May 2017 and were assisting 120 families in Clinton.

We currently provide services to 270 households and have given away more than 396,000 diapers and 809,000 wipes.
