Baby Basics of Collier County, Inc

Child development has always been important to me, but what really caught my attention was learning that many babies came from working-class families with low incomes who were unable to buy enough diapers for their infants.

I couldn’t imagine babies having to wear diapers for an extended period of time or crying from diaper rash. I made the decision to take action. Because I wanted all babies to have the chance to grow and thrive like my children and grandchildren, I started the first Baby Basics program in Ridgewood, New Jersey, more than 19 years ago.

There are currently 13 programs across the nation, including the program in Collier County.

We are the only organization that regularly offers low-income working families free diapers. These families rely on us and are incredibly appreciative of our assistance. They explain to us at our distribution centers how they use the money they would typically spend on diapers to buy food, pay rent, or buy baby medicine.

The entire family is affected because we also give these struggling families a place to belong and a community to support them. Although a straightforward program, it is desperately needed.
