Since 1982, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has taken the lead in the region’s fight against hunger, distributing more than 4.5 million meals annually to seniors, children, and people in need throughout Lake and Porter counties. Through its more than 100 partner organizations and initiatives like the BackPack program, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for Seniors, and Mobile Marketplace, the Food Bank provides assistance to more than 23,000 people each month.
Nearly 100,000 people in Northwest Indiana are food insecure, meaning they do not have access to enough healthy food for themselves and their families.
In other words, one in six persons in our neighborhood are unsure about where they will get their next meal.
The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is able to give hope to thousands of our hungry neighbors because to kind donors, corporate partners, and grant money.The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is a 501(c)3 non-profit and a part of Feeding America, the biggest domestic hunger-relief organization in the country with a strong network of 200 food banks nationwide.
