On the first birthday of her oldest son Jack, Corinne Cannon started the Greater DC Diaper Bank in 2010.
After more than ten years, we have delivered thousands of dollars’ worth of infant essentials and adult hygiene products in addition to more than 24 million diapers.
Tens of thousands of families in DC, Maryland, and Virginia have benefited from our work. We’ve been able to make sure that all families in our area have access to the necessities for success thanks to the assistance of our Diaper Distribution Network partners and our wonderful community.
How We Work
By giving families and individuals in need access to sufficient and dependable sources of infant supplies and personal hygiene items throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area, the Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB) aims to empower disadvantaged groups of people.
One of the biggest diaper banks in the nation, GDCDB gives away 9 million diapers annually along with baby supplies and hygiene products valued hundreds of thousands of dollars. Through our straightforward yet effective strategy, we provide babies and families with gifts that are wrapped in love and hope. To do this, we accept donations of money, commodities, or time.
The donations that come into our warehouse are counted and organized. Then, one of our affiliated groups picks them up and distributes them to low-income families.
