We are Sacramento County’s largest nonprofit provider of basic human needs.

And while we are proud to help the working poor and poor progress toward a path of financial independence and self-sufficiency, we are also humbled by the opportunity. Our main objective is to provide the tools necessary for our community to create the future they want.

More than 40 years ago, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) was established.

We all jumped in.

Our neighborhood was soon fed and dressed & educated as well. The ability to access resources in the area that would enable them to live the life they desired with dignity and grace is, perhaps, the most crucial aspect.

Although we have since outgrown the basement where we started, we continue to be grounded in our history of attending to the urgent needs and exciting opportunities of our neighbors.

SFBFS is now more than just a food bank; it also offers services to immigrants and refugees who have made Sacramento their home as well as people who have lived in the city all their lives. Every client we assist has specific needs and circumstances when they come to us.

Additionally, they all share the desire to escape poverty and live fulfilling lives in the future.
