Larimer County 5706 Wright Drive , Loveland, Colorado 80538, USA

The Food Bank for Larimer County believes that no one should go hungry. Our vision is to provide health, hope, and humanity in order to stabilize our clients’ lives and build a vibrant community.

We are a private non-profit organization and our county’s only Feeding America clearinghouse for donated food. We feed an estimated 37,500 people in need each year through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs.

Sandy Bowden, a VISTA volunteer, conducted a survey in 1983 and discovered a need for an efficient, centralized food collection and distribution resource that would avoid duplication of effort. She looked around the state to see how other communities were meeting low-income people’s food needs and determined that Larimer County needed a Food Bank.

Sandy oversaw the opening of the Food Bank for Larimer County on East Oak Street in 1984. Sandy and her volunteers were proud to provide 3,800 pounds of food to individuals and families in need during the first month of operation. Food was primarily obtained through rotating food drives between various houses of worship back then.

The Food Bank distributed 56,836 pounds of food in the first year.
