We Care Community Baby Center

The We Care Community Baby Center is an 501-C3 non profit that serves the towns from Milbridge to Perry in the state of Maine.

The center was organized in 2003 with nine children the first month and now has grown to over 100 children each month. At our main branch in Machias, with the recent opening of our branch in Lubec, we expect our growth to be 25-30% more.

The We Care Baby Center provides a great service in an area where the poverty rate is high because most of the residents are employed in seasonal jobs, such as fishing, blueberry raking and wreath makers. We are able to provide these families with infant and children supplies to lessen the stress of raising a family.

To be eligible for diapers the child must have a WIC voucher or MaineCare insurance card.

The Baby Center is an all volunteer organization but it costs $1700/month to run the two locations.
